Nine passengers killed in Nepal

At least nine people were killed and 24 others injured when an altercation broke out between a bus driver and four youths, leading to an accident. The incident took place in Sindhupalchowk district on Friday night, police said.

At least nine people were killed and 24 others injured when an altercation broke out between a bus driver and four youths, leading to an accident.

The incident took place in Sindhupalchowk district on Friday night, police said.

The driver of the bus, Ram Bahadur Ale, allegedly left the steering while the vehicle was on move after the four youths allegedly beat him at around 9 pm, police said.

The bus with 70 passengers onboard fell into a gorge from the hilly road, they said.

The ill-fated bus was heading from Bekhsimle village of Sindhupalchowk district towards Lamosanghu in the district.

The injured have been admitted to Shir Memorial hospital in Banepa. Police and the local people were mobilised to carry out rescue works after the accident.
