The Obama Administration has alleged that North Korea is a "serial proliferator" and expressed concerns that it might try to ship various things to other nations of the world.
"I believe that we have concerns that North Korea may try to ship a variety of things in a variety of directions. North Korea is a serial proliferator," the Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs, P J Crowley, told reporters at the daily State Department press briefing.
"Their military economy is one of the means by which the North Korean Government sustains itself. They have the right to do that, but it is the proliferation risk that North Korea has demonstrated over time that is at the heart of our concerns," Crowley said.
This is why the UN Security Council has slapped sanctions against it, he said.
