world Updated: Apr 12, 2007 11:32 IST

North Korea's Prime Minister Pak Pong Ju is to be replaced in the post by Transport Minister Kim Yong Il, the official KCNA news agency reported on Wednesday.

The decision was rubber-stamped during a session of the Supreme People's Assembly.

Pak Pong Ju, former minister for the chemical industry, was made prime minister in September 2003. No reason was given for his replacement.
