President Barack Obama said today he accepted an apology from Republican congressman Joe Wilson who shouted out "You lie!" during his prime time address to Congress.
Wilson shocked members of the House of Representatives with the protocol-busting remark during Obama's speech on Wednesday, igniting the latest political firestorm over the president's health care reform drive.
Asked at a cabinet meeting whether he accepted the apology that Wilson telephoned to White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, Obama said ,"Yes, I do."
"I am big believer that we all make mistakes," Obama said. "He apologised quickly, and without equivocation and I am appreciative of that.
