Indian-American Democratic politician Kamala Devi Harris, who is attempting to become the Attorney General of California, a position comparable to the home minister of an Indian state, has received a significant endorsement —from US President Barack Obama.
This is the first instance of an American President endorsing an Indian-American candidate for electoral office.
In an email sent out by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) along with Organising for America, the US President said, “I am proud to stand by her. She is someone who understands the needs of all Americans, and I need allies like that fighting for change across the country.”
Kamala Harris is currently the San Francisco District Attorney.
