Pakistan security forces have decided to confiscate the properties of all wanted militants in the restive Swat valley and to expel their families from their hometowns if they fail to surrender by May 15.

A poster released by the security forces and pasted in public places in Swat district directs the militants to present themselves before the authorities by May 15, failing which they will lose all their properties and their families will be expelled from their homes in the region.

Official sources said that a sizeable number of militants wanted by the security forces belonged to Manglawar, Sair and Tiligram areas of Swat district.

Most parts of Swat district, located about 160 km from Islamabad, were controlled by Taliban fighters led by radical cleric Maulana Fazlullah till the Pakistan Army launched an operation last year to flush out the militants.
