A Pakistani court today extended till September 26 the bail granted to actress Meera in connection with a theft case registered against her by a man claiming to be her husband.
However, the sessions court cancelled her father's bail in the same case for his failure to appear before the judge.
Meera, who has worked in two Bollywood movies, and some of her relatives have been accused of stealing furniture and other valuables from the house of Atiqur Rehman, who claims he married Meera two years ago.
Meera dismissed reports that efforts are being made for reconciliation with Rehman. "I will fight my case in court and there will be no negotiations with Atiq as he is not my husband," she told reporters outside the court.
"Why should I consider a patch-up with him as I am not his wife," she said. Rehman, a businessman from Faisalabad, has produced a 'nikaahnama' (marriage certificate), witnesses, emails and records of phone conversations to substantiate his claim.
The marriage certificate states that Rehman will pay Rs 20 million to Meera if he divorces her.
