China will immediately provide fifty JF-17 Thunder aircraft to Pakistan, according to an official. A formal agreement on in this regard is likely to be signed on Thursday the official said. “We will get these planes in weeks,” the Dawn quoted the official, as saying in Beijing.
Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani is on a three-day visit to China, which includes a series of high profile celebrations and events to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between both countries, as well as the “China-Pakistan Friendship Year”.
The official said that Pakistan and China were already jointly producing the JF-17 aircraft, but that these 50 planes would be equipped with more sophisticated avionics.
