In an effort to defuse the mounting tension, Pakistan has decided to release over 360 Indian prisoners, the interior ministry said on Thursday. Pakistan claims that 491 Indian prisoners are currently lodged in the country’s jails, of which 367 will now be set free on Friday.

It is expected that the actual handing over of prisoners would take place on Saturday at the Wagah border. Those being released this week include 340 fishermen, officials said.
