With eve-teasing and bullying assuming alarming proportions in Bangladesh, female police officers are donning school uniform to trap offenders.
Women law officers are also going undercover in playgrounds and other public places, as part of a countrywide crackdown on eve-teasing, police said.
These new extraordinary methods are being employed by the authorities following a sharp spiral in eve-teasing cases with at least 14 teenage girls most of them students committing suicide this year due to it.
"The technique yielded good results, the undercover newly recruited have detained seven such eve teasers in the past six days in Kishorganj sending a strong warning to them," officer-in-charge of the police station of the district headquarters Mir Mosharraf Hossain said.
Hossain said eight just recruited female policemen have been engaged in the task, who disguised themselves as schoolgirls by even carrying schoolbags.
