Prince William came, pitched wildlife conservation, met President Barack Obama and left. None of that was as newsy as how he came and left DC. He flew commercial.
And what a great move that turned out to be, to get the attention of a country and its media has had his younger brother Prince Harry pose in the pink and try other racier stunts.
Elder Brother Prince William’s picture on board NYC-DC-NYC US Airways flight went viral on social media, tweeted and retweeted by happily surprised fellow passengers.
One of them was CNN anchor Anderson Cooper. “Prince William just got on my DC shuttle flight,” he tweeted.
William did fly commercial but he didn’t go completely common, or cattle as Economy was once described by a politician. It was First Class for him.
The prince and his wife, Princess Katherine — they are expecting their second child — are in the US on a three-day tour. She skipped the DC leg, and stayed back in New York.
At the White House, he spoke to President Barack Obama about his son, among other things: “I remember when George was born, I forgot to actually work out whether it was a boy or a girl.”
He was in DC to deliver a speech at the World Bank on wildlife trafficking. As noble as this cause is, it lost the PR war to his DC shuttle.
