Supporters of Baba Ramdev took to the streets in Kathmandu on Monday against police action against the yoga guru’s fast to death in Delhi.
Local reports say nearly 200 persons were detained by the police from outside the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu after they reached there to submit a memorandum.
Though they were released soon after, supporters of Ramdev are planning to hold candlelight rallies and other means of protest across Nepal in the coming days to express their solidarity.
Patanjali Yogpeeth has branches all over Nepal and Ramdev enjoys immense popularity in the Himalayan nation. He conducts several yoga camps every year in Nepal.
Acharya Balakrishna, Ramdev’s closest associate, who’s in the news for his reported disappearance after signing a deal with the government, hails from Syangja district in western Nepal.
