A drunken scuffle between two workers, including an Indian, ended up in a clash between two groups, injuring 59 workers, in Jebel Ali Industrial Area near Dubai, local media reports said on Tuesday.

An Indian and a Pakistani, both of them drunk, sparked off the fight on Sunday, it said.

"Seven people were taken to Rashid and Al Baraha hospitals," Colonel Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri, Deputy Director of Dubai Police's Criminal Investigation Department, said.

He said police patrols, CID teams and ambulances were rushed to the scene after receiving the report.

Police managed to control the situation, he said, adding precautionary security measures have also taken to prevent any untoward incident.
