The four million-pound (around Rs 32 crore) Sikh spiritual home has been designed on the lines of Amritsar's Golden Temple, the local media reported. The gold-domed structure has all facilities of a traditional gurdwara a large prayer hall, an education centre and a langar hall.
The gurdwara, located at Albert Drive in Pollokshields area of the city, is expected to attract more than 1,000 visitors each week and become a city landmark.
"The construction and opening of this gurdwara is perhaps the biggest step taken since the initial decision by my forefathers to settle in Scotland," the Scottish Daily Record quoted Glasgow gurdwara president Surinder Singh as saying.
Sunday's opening ceremony will start with a procession from the old gurdwara to Pollokshields and end with a fireworks display in the evening.
There are about 10,000 Sikhs in Scotland.
