America's elite secret service will probe the hacking of Fox News' political Twitter account where false claims of President Barack Obama assassination had been posted.
FoxNews.com alerted the US Secret Service, which will investigate the hacking and do "appropriate follow up," spokesman George Ogilvie said.
"We will be requesting a detailed investigation from Twitter about how this occurred, and measures to prevent future unauthorised access into FoxNews.com accounts," Jeff Misenti, vice president and general manager of Fox News Digital, said.
On Monday, hackers took over Fox News' politics Twitter feed announcing that President Obama had been shot dead on America's national day.
In all together, the hackers had posted six comments on the news feed about the assassination.
