A number of people died in a shooting at a house in western Germany on Tuesday, police said, adding that a suspect was in custody.
"We are unfortunately talking about several people dead and several injured," said Wolfgang Wierich, spokesman for Duesseldorf police.
The victims were found in the house at Schwalmtal, near Duesseldorf, police said.
Officials declined to comment on reports that the suspect was a father who had been in the middle of a family break-up.
"The person responsible has been arrested," the spokesman said.
