At least six people were injured in a bomb blast in the outskirts of the national capital early on Wednesday morning, police said.

The injured in the explosion beside a train track in Dehiwala at around 7 a.M were rushed to a hospital, they said.

"As of now six people have been admitted to the hospital and are being treated for injuries," a police officer told PTI.

There was no immediate confirmation of what caused the blast. The details were not immediately available.

Nine people, including five women, were killed and 71 others injured when a bomb, planted by suspected LTTE rebels, ripped through a packed train in the same area last week.
