Six students killed in Pakistan madrassa blast

world Updated: Dec 03, 2007 21:56 IST

Six teenaged students were killed and as many injured when a bomb went off in a madrassa in Pakistan's Balochistan province on Monday.

Police said the blast occurred in the seminary located about 15 km from Qilla Saifullah town in the northwest of the province.

The condition of three injured students was described as critical. An injured student said an unidentified man, who was allowed to stay in the madrassa last night, had planted the explosive device.

The blast occurred after the man left the seminary.

Police cordoned off the area around the madrassa, set up pickets and started patrolling across Qilla Saifullah district. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
