Six pro-Taliban militants were killed as security forces repulsed an attack on a check post while two children died when a landmine went off in the restive tribal belt of northwest Pakistan on Sunday, security officials said.
Militants fired six rockets at the check post in Dabori area of Orakzai Agency.
The troops returned fire, killing six militants, officials said.
In a separate incident in Saafi area of Mohmand Agency, two children were killed when they stepped on a landmine.
In yet another development, security forces apprehended militant commander Payo Shah in Orakzai Agency, officials said.
