Sixteen people have died and 13 are missing after torrential rains and floods hit southwest China, state media on Monday reported.
The downpour hit Miyi county in Sichuan province for around 10 hours from late last night, the China News Service said, adding that another 38 people had been injured in the storms.
South and central China are prone to flooding during the summer rainy season.
In Sichuan, rain has affected 6.9 million people, with more than 250,000 people being relocated, Chinese media reports said.
According to a report issued earlier this month by the state flood headquarters, 95 people have been killed and 21 people went missing in flooding throughout China in the first six months of the year.
