Clad in a purple Banarasi saree with a golden border, Sonia stood up as soon as the 56-member Indian delegation led by shooter Rajyawardhan Singh Rathore entered the 'Bird's Nest' stadium at the Olympic Village in the Chinese capital.

She will also meet Chinese Vice-President Xi Jinping during her stay.
