Sri Lanka appoints Narayana Murthy as Int'l advisor for IT

Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa today appointed the chief mentor of Infosys, Narayana Murthy as International Advisor on Information Technology, reports Sutirtho Patranobis.

Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Friday appointed the chief mentor of Infosys, Narayana Murthy as International Advisor on Information Technology. Murthy, currently in Colombo, was present at the ceremonial launch of "2009 - Year of English and Information Technology" at the Presidential Secretariat by the Sri Lanka President.

Rajapaksa designated 2009 as `country's Year of English and IT' and said that with the `liberation of people from the clutches of terrorism' which destroyed our country for more than 25 years, 2009 will also be country's Year of Peace, country's Year of Reconciliation, and Year of true Independence.
