Sri Lanka on Sunday condemned the serial blasts in Delhi that killed at least 21 people, saying such "barbaric acts" can never be justified under any circumstances.

"It is with great distress that the government and people of Sri Lanka have learnt about a series of terrorist bomb attacks in New Delhi last night resulting in loss of life and injury to innocent people," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement here.

It said Sri Lanka "unequivocally condemns such barbaric acts of terrorism which can never be justified under any circumstances for whatever reason."

"In this hour of grief, government and people of Sri Lanka stand by the people and the government of India in sympathy with those who suffered as a result of indiscriminate terrorist bombing and stand in solidarity with all comprehensive measures that are being taken by authorities in India to eradicate terrorism," the statement said.
