IN HER new avatar as a young dancer, Maya, Shilpa Shetty hopes to waltz into fame in the UK.
People are curious to watch Shilpa’s on- stage debut in the musical Miss Bollywood, where she plays Maya, who lands up in the UK with the dream to set up a dance academy, Bollywood style. The Big Brother celebrity show worked wonders for the actor, who is the most “trailed, talked about and sought” Indian in Britain.
Reports of the launch of the musical earlier in Berlin drew “satisfactory” audience response, would possibly help in ticket sales in London, Birmingham, Glasgow and Manchester, from where the UK tour starts on November 3. It ends with a show at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London on November 12.
According to Shilpa, the musical would not only cater to the lovers of Bollywood but also to the mainstream audience who are crazy about dance and musical theatre. She would re-capture on stage some of Bollywood’s greatest hits over the past 40 years and lead a troupe of 40 dancers from Bollywood and a few from the UK.
The musical follows the story of a young classical dancer who finds herself thrust into the limelight, in company of an evil choreographer and a jealous diva.
