A suicide bomber wearing an Afghan security forces uniform has attacked a military base in eastern Afghanistan.
Afghan defense ministry spokesman Gen Mohammad Zahir Azimi says there are an unknown number of casualties.
Azimi says a man wearing a vest packed full of explosives blew himself up at about 7:30 a.m. local time Saturday at the entrance to a base in Jalalabad, which is shared by Afghan and coalition forces. He says the uniform the attacker was wearing allowed him to walk toward the entrance.
NATO has not yet disclosed information about the attack in Nangarhar province, which is situated along the border with Pakistan.
