Myanmar's Foreign Minister Nyan Win has told his regional counterparts that opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi may be released after November 7 elections, a diplomatic source said on Thursday.

"He said they will release Aung San Suu Kyi maybe after the elections," a foreign ministry official from one of the delegations at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) meeting in Hanoi told AFP.

However, the official said that Nyan Win, speaking at a foreign ministers' dinner on Wednesday night, "did not say specifically" what date she would be freed from house arrest.
