Taliban attack police checkpoint in Afghanistan, killing 8

At least eight police officers were killed after their checkpoint was attacked in southern Zabul province, said Afghan officials.

At least eight police officers were killed after their checkpoint was attacked in southern Zabul province, said Afghan officials.

Mohmand Nasratyar, district administrative chief, said on Saturday that all eight policemen were killed late on Friday night inside their checkpoint in the Arghandab district.

Nasratyar said that a delegation has been sent to investigate the incident and so far it remained unclear how the attack happened.

Taliban spokesperson Qari Yusuf Ahmadi claimed responsibility for the attack.
