Taliban militants have blown up two schools and a health centre in Pakistan's restive northwestern Bajaur tribal region, officials said on Saturday.

A boys' high school and a primary school in Mamoond sub-division of Bajaur tribal agency were destroyed when explosive devices planted by militants went off last night.

A primary health centre was also blown up by militants in the same area, the officials said.

There were no casualties as all the buildings were empty at the time, officials said.

Militants have destroyed about 70 schools in Bajaur over the past year.

The army conducted a major operation against the Taliban in the region last year.
