has topped the list of prestigious Pulitzer journalism award winners this year bagging six out of 14 awards, including for its coverage of Virgina Tech shooting.
In the Breaking News category, the award went to the staff of the 'Post' for its coverage of deadly shooting at Virginia Tech.
In the International Reporting category, Post's Steve Fainaru won for his reporting on private security contractors in Iraq who operate outside most of the laws governing American forces.
The New York Times won the award for Explanatory Reporting and shared with Chicago Tribune for Investigative Reporting.
Pakistani-born and Bangkok based photographer Adrees Latif won the Pulitzer for Reuters in the Breaking News Photography with his shot showing a Japanese videographer sprawled on the payment fatally wounded during a street demonstration in Myanmar.
No award was given for Editorial Writing but Michael Ramirez of Investor's Business Daily won Pulitzer for Editorial Cartooning.
The award for Criticism went to Mark Feeney of the Boston Globe and Preston Gannaway of the Concord Monitor won for Feature Photography.
For Local Reporting, the Pulitzer went to David Umhoefer of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The awards, established by a Hungarian-American journalist Joseph Pulitzer in 1911, were announced last evening.
The 'Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao' won Junot Diaz (Riverhead Books) award for Fiction.
Robert Hass and Philip Schultz got the Pulitzers for Poetry for their works 'Time and Materials' and 'Failure' respectively.
For Drama, award went to Tracy Letts for 'August: Osage County' and for History to Daniel Walker Howe for his work 'What Hath God Wrought' (Oxford University Press).
