The Dalai Lama's special envoy is telling US lawmakers that China must bear full responsibility for recent violence and suffering in Tibet. He calls Tibet a "brutally occupied" nation and says the situation there is grim.
Lodi Gyari told the Congressional Human Rights Caucus on Thursday that senior US lawmakers should visit Tibet to help show the world the misery Tibetans face. The envoy for the exiled leader of Tibet's Buddhists called for a permanent US diplomatic presence in Lhasa.
