Two explosions were heard in Kandahar city by a Reuters witness on Wednesday, shortly after Afghan President Hamid Karzai buried his assassinated brother in a nearby village.

It was not immediately clear what caused the blasts, where they happened or whether there were any casualties due to the blasts.

Ahmad Wali Karzai, a younger half-brother of the Afghan President and one of the most powerful and controversial men in southern Afghanistan, was buried on Wednesday morning in the family's ancestral village of Karz, some 20 km away from Kandahar city.
