Two Indians arrested in fake currency racket in Nepal

Seven people including two Indians were arrested by Nepal police from the Tribhuvan International Airport, for carrying counterfeit Indian currency worth Rs 4.1 million.

A special police team arrested them as they were heading towards the airport in a on Wednesday, police said.

Those arrested include Tek Bahadur Karki and Binod Karki from Palpa district, Aftab Ansari and Chokat Mahato of Bara district and Birendra Shah of Parsa.

The Indian nationals hailing from Bihar's Motihari have been identified as Muktar Ansari and Isammudin Alam, police said.

Karki who was carrying the money in a bag managed to evade security checking at the Airport, the police said.

The six people had come to receive Karki at the airport.

The police said that they were trying to send the counterfeit currency to India via land route. All the fake bank notes were with Rs 1,000 denominations.
