The United Arab Emirates says it has ordered a squadron of F-16 jet fighters to Jordan.
The announcement says the squadron is to support Jordanian forces and their participation in the US-led coalition against the Islamic State group.
Jordan has intensified air strikes against Islamic State group targets since the militants released a video earlier this week that showed them burning a captured Jordanian pilot to death in a cage.
Saturday's statement, carried by the state news agency WAM, did not say whether the UAE aircraft would be carrying out airstrikes from Jordanian territory. An Emirati official was not immediately able to provide details.
The move comes days after American officials revealed that the Emirati military had stopped carrying out airstrikes as part of the coalition late last year.
