Britain's ruling Labour party said on Tuesday that talks with the Liberal Democrats on forming a new government had temporarily halted but the negotiations were not finished.
Asked if talks between the two parties on forming a coalition had ended, Labour minister Ed Miliband said: "Temporarily."
"What they (the Lib Dems) are doing is talking to the Tories (Conservatives) right now. We can (go) back and forth," he said.
Prime Minister Gordon Brown's spokesman denied BBC reports that the talks had irreparably broken down.
"We are happy to continue talking," the spokesman said.
