UN chief in Afghanistan: president's office

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon arrived in Kabul to hold talks with Afghan President Hamid Karzai, the president's office told reporters

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon arrived in Kabul on Monday to hold talks with Afghan President Hamid Karzai, the president's office told reporters.

"Today's guest is His Excellency Ban Ki-moon, the UN secretary general," presidential spokesman Siamak Herawi told reporters gathered at Karzai's palace for a press conference.

The UN mission in Afghanistan would not confirm the trip. High-level visits to the war-torn country are usually kept under wraps for security reasons.
