A US drone fired missiles at a suspected militant compound in the volatile North Waziristan tribal region in northwest Pakistan today, killing four militants, including some foreigners, sources said.
The drone fired two missiles at a guesthouse attached to a home in Khushali Torikhel village in Mir Ali sub-division in North Waziristan, killing the militants. Besides the four militants who were killed, five others were injured, the sources said.
The Pakistan government is under tremendous pressure from the US administration to launch an operation in North Waziristan as the Americans consider the region a haven for Taliban and Al Qaeda militants.
The US has carried out dozens of drone attacks in North Waziristan as it suspects that large number of militants including elements from Al Qaeda, Taliban and Haqqani network are sheltering there.
