Watch: Boeing 787 Dreamliner's breathtaking near-vertical takeoff
The video is Boeing's promo to attract clients to the new 787-9 Dreamliner to be showcased at the 2015 International Paris Air Show on June 15 to 21, 2015.world Updated: Jun 13, 2015 17:13 IST
Boeing decided to show off its "technical manoeuvres" by pulling off a near-vertical take-off with its newest version of the Dreamliner aircraft, the 787-9.
It succeeded in the attempt with style and then bragged about its feat on Twitter and YouTube.
The Boeing Dreamliner took off and showed off its flying skills over Moses Lake near Washington, with breathtaking glides and ascents. See the video for yourself!
But this wasn't just for bragging!
The video was shot during a rehearsal for the 51st international Paris Air Show, where more than 30,000 professionals from the aviation industry will assemble in “The City of Love” to buy and sell aircraft.
This year’s Paris Air Show will be held from June 15-16. While the main players will be Airbus and Boeing, the expo will host around 2,260 exhibitors from 47 countries with more than 120 aircraft models up for sale.
Reason behind Boeing's stunt:
Last year, at the 2014 Farnborough International Airshow, the reported trade for European jet maker Airbus was around $75 billion for 486 aircraft, while Boeing's was reported to be around $40.2 billion for 201 airplanes. This was the trend in 2013 too.
So this year, Boeing decided to make a head start in attracting its clients.
The promo has proven to be a success for both Boeing and Paris Air Show’s organisers. The video featuring a Vietnam Airlines' Boeing 787-9 has gone viral on YouTube with over 1.6 million views within 24 hours of its release. Many other video channels have rebadged the video which is trending online and was widely discussed on Twitter.

While the cinematography of the video is simply make-believe, one can be easily mistaken it for animation, like this user:
And it's as unbelievable as the mysterious disappearance of MH370!

Well, for some this feat may even change the course of aviation in the future.
