A woman in France has admitted to killing six of her newborn babies, four of whom were choked to death by placing a finger in their mouths. The bodies were then hidden in the cellar.
Celine Lesage, 38, strangled two of the children with a cord and choked four others by placing her finger in their mouths, the Daily Express reported on Tuesday.
She told the French court in Cherbourg, Normandy: "I admit the charges."
Her former boyfriend, Pascal Catherine, had told the court that he believed the children were stillborn or aborted.
Luc Margueritte, the father of the last child to be murdered, found his son’s body in a dustbin, the report said.
When asked if the babies had been alive before Lesage killed them, she replied, “I cannot answer” and then added: “Yes, your honour”.
Each baby was delivered in secret between August 2000 and September 2007.
Prosecutor Michel Garrandaux said that Lesage “put the babies and their dirty clothes neatly in a sealed plastic bag and hid them".
The terrible secret was uncovered in the town of Valognes Oct 19, 2007.
She told police she had “absolutely no explanation” for what she had done and claimed diminished responsibility.
