Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday hosted famous Indian pop singer Daler Mehndi and said the two neighbouring countries should expand cultural ties to promote bilateral relations.

Daler Mehndi, currently on a visit to Pakistan, called on Zardari at the presidential palace here and presented him a copy of his album.

"There were centuries-old cultural relations between the people of India and Pakistan and there is a need to jointly develop tourist infrastructure and expand cultural ties between the two sides," Zardari said.

"More travel and tourism will certainly help in this direction," he said.

Thanking the people of Pakistan for their love, Daler also agreed with Zardari that cultural relations between the two countries must be strengthened.
