Nights get cooler as Delhi records lowest min temp

With cooler northwesterly winds starting to blow towards Delhi-NCR, India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials say the nighttime temperature in Delhi is expected to remain below 20 degrees moving forward, with a drop to 16°C expected in the next seven days.

Delhi sets new record: Wettest October since 1956

With 6.5mm of rainfall being added in the last 24 hours, Delhi has now received 128.2mm of rainfall, going past 122.5mm of rainfall it received last October to so far make it Delhi’s wettest October since 1956, when Delhi had received 236.2mm of rainfall

Delhi sees its cleanest air day since August 2020

Monday’s AQI reading was an improvement on Sunday’s reading of 48, and was only surpassed by the reading on August 31, 2020, when the AQI was 41.

Delhi resets its rain record, sees 2nd wettest 24-hr spell of rainfall in 15 yrs

The city added another 7.4mm of rainfall between 8.30am and 5.30pm on Sunday, taking October’s rainfall total so far to 107.3mm—around seven times the normal monthly mark of 15.1mm. To be sure, Delhi received 122.5mm of rainfall in all of October last year.

Delhi crosses annual rain mark despite disappointing monsoon

In fact, the monsoon, despite a late flurry in September, could only manage 516.9mm of rainfall between June and September – well below the average mark of 640.4mm for these four months.

Winds clean air up, give Capital its cleanest post-Dussehra AQI

Customs find 7 wristwatches on passenger, the most expensive valued at 27 cr

According to the Jacob & Co website, the total carat weight of the diamonds used in its Billionaire III watch is over 129 carats. It is a limited edition watch, only 18 have been made.

Delhi air ‘poor’ for 1st time since June, Graded Response Action Plan in effect

Delhi on Wednesday recorded an AQI of 211, according to the Central Pollution Control Board’s (CPCB) 4pm bulletin. This was a sharp upswing from 150 (moderate) on Wednesday, and the highest reading since June 25 this year, when the AQI was 230.

With AQI reaching 208 at 12pm on Wednesday, the CAQM subcommittee called an emergency review meeting at 4pm.(HT_PRINT)

Halve farm fire count and Delhi will see no severe air day this Oct, Nov: Safar

Gufran Beig, founder director at Safar, said in the first ”business as usual” scenario -- if the number of fire incidents is similar to last year‘s count of 80,000 with the events peaking towards mid-November -- then Delhi is expected to see around five to six ”severe” air days.

Stubble fires rising in Punjab, may impact Delhi after Oct 10

From Sept 15-30, a total of 147 farm fires were recorded, with no fires recorded for nearly a week, when the northern plains were hit with rains. A similar period is expected from October 4 onwards.

Rain in Delhi may keep Grap steps at bay till Oct 8

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), light rain is expected over the Capital from October 4 to October 8, due to a low-pressure area currently over the Bay of Bengal, which will gradually move towards northwest India.

There is possibility of very light rain on October 4, and light rain and thunderstorm activity on October 5. The air quality is likely to remain largely in the ‘moderate’ to ‘satisfactory’ category after that, IMD forecast said. (PTI)

Delhi’s driest monsoon in 3 years withdraws, rain deficit 19%: Met

Delhi received just 516.9mm rainfall this monsoon, well below the normal mark of 639.7mm and the lowest since 2019, when the Capital got just 404.3mm of rain, showed data from the weather office. To be sure, IMD classifies overall monsoon rainfall 19% above or below the average as ‘normal’.

Delhi looking to add more expert agencies for tree transplantation

At present, four expert agencies are empanelled by the Delhi to assist in the transplantation process, but officials aware of the matter said three more agencies have been shortlisted over the last few months, with the file sent to environment minister Gopal Rai for approval.

Why ban on firecrackers in Delhi goes up in smoke each year

Delhi Police data shows that despite clear guidelines in place, not many people are arrested for either illegally selling or bursting firecrackers. In fact, in a week-long-period which included Diwali day, only 281 people were prosecuted last year -- 138 for selling and supplying firecrackers and 143 for bursting them.
