Uttarakhand is the third state after Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh to enforce a ban on plastic. In January 2017, the then Congress government in state issued an order banning manufacture, distribution and sale of polythene carry bags and single use plastic cutlery

The BJP issued the ‘indiscipline’ notice to Gupta on July 15 after expressed his dissatisfaction over the CM’s ignorance over developmental works in Haridwar district. The MLA was given 10 days to reply. The district has 11 assembly seats, of which 8 are with the BJP.
