‘An i20 suits your needs the best’
If you are looking for a combination of performance and mileage, then the Hyundai i20, with its punchy yet frugal 90bhp engine is the one for you.autos Updated: Dec 23, 2011 21:49 IST
I have a budget of Rs6-6.5 lakh for a diesel hatchback. My travel includes city driving along with a highway outing once a month. I seek a mileage of 16-17kpl with no compromise on speed or pick-up and low maintenance costs. Between the Hyundai i20 Sportz, Ford Figo Titanium and Tata Vista, which one do you suggest I go for?

If you are looking for a combination of performance and mileage, then the Hyundai i20, with its punchy yet frugal 90bhp engine is the one for you. It’s more expensive than the other cars you have listed but it’s well equipped and, being a Hyundai, maintenance costs are quite low.
Between the Toyota Fortuner and the Nissan X-Trail, which one do you recommend?
— Rakesh Dass
The X-Trail is more car-like in its behaviour and is much nicer to drive, thanks to a comfortable ride and a strong diesel engine that likes to be revved. It has a low stance too which makes getting in and out quite easy. The X-Trail’s handling is quite good too. The Fortuner has a strong chassis and better off-road capability than the X-trail. The Fortuner is better if you’re driving on really rough roads; the X-Trail is only a five-seater. The Fortuner is cheaper and lends better value.
