Country's second largest two wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto Ltd (BAL) on Wednesday upgraded its existing 100cc Platina to the 125cc segment with a price tag of Rs 39,000 ex-showroom in Delhi. The new Platina is based on Bajaj's DTS-Si engine platform that powers the XCD.

The company is however, not dicontinuing production of the existing 100cc Platina despite its stated policy of focusing on 125cc and above segments. Bajaj also said that it will launch two more bikes in the 125cc segment but none of them would be during the festive season.

“We have a commanding market share of over 50 per cent in the greater than 125cc segment which is testimony to the equity of DTS-i bikes,” said Amit Nandi, General Manager (Marketing) BAL. “With the launch of this new product, the Platina too joins the DTS-i club.”
