It’s that time of the year when you want to get away from the city madness. With the weatherman indicating the arrival of the monsoons in a few days, how about a road trip on a bike? We guide on the must haves of a biking trip.
The first thing needed — obviously, is a bike. Those who have one, needn’t worry. Those who don’t, needn’t worry either. There are many stores in Delhi that offer bikes on rent such as Bike on rent in East Delhi and Smart Motors in Karol Bagh. All you need to do is deposit the market price of the bike, depending on the model, and then pay a per day rent that ranges between Rs 400-700. You also need to show them your driving license. “Make a few copies for yourself too,” advises Ajay Singh, an avid biker.
Ride with your luck
You have the bike, but there’s still a lot to be planned. Never leave anything to chance during a road trip. The taken for granted tyre is sure to blow and the bulb will also go kaput. Karol Bagh has various stores for all that a biker needs. Right from puncture kits and foot pumps to Ladakh carriers (saddle bags) — you can get it all here.
When on the go, mountain sickness often leads to vomiting and headaches. “The ones prepared, are on Diamox at least 24 hours before the kick,” says Rahul,an MBBS by day and biker in the season.
