Parking a £280,000 McLaren 650S next to an animal enclosure in central Germany’s Vogelsberg cost a businessman dearly after a donkey chomped on his orange-coloured supercar.
The incident happened last September when Markus Zahn left his car next to the paddock where a donkey-Vitus-was grazing.
Local police said the donkey might have confused the supercar for a giant carrot.
“I looked into the rear-view mirror and suddenly saw a pair of fluffy ears. And then I heard a strange sound. The sound came from a donkey, which was gnawing at my fender,” Zahn told German tabloid Bild.
McLaren’s garage covered the cost for most of the damage, Zahn was still left with a £5,280 bill and has sought compensation from the donkey owner.
The case ended on Thursday after a German court found the peckish donkey’s owner liable for £5,095 of paintwork damage.
He, however, refused to pay for the damage and suggested that the car was parked “too close” to the paddock.
