Hyundai recalls 7657 units of Eon over clutch and battery cables’ problems

Hyundai Motor India Ltd on Tuesday voluntarily recalled 7657 units of its entry-level hatch Eon manufactured in January 2015 over a glitch in the clutch and battery cables.
“Eon customers of respective period will be notified in a phased manner for inspection of the clutch cable fouling with battery cable and replace the cattery cable if found damaged,” the carmaker said in a statement.
The issue of “clutch cable fouling with battery cable” in the Eon cars made from January 1 to january 31, 2015, will be resolved at no cost to customer, the company added.
The portfolio of India’s second largest carmaker has cars ranging from an entry-level Rs 3-lakh Eon to Rs 30-lakh Santa Fe.
Ahead of the festive season, Hyundai will launch its premium compact crossover Tucson on Oct 24. The car, placed betweenthe premium SUV Creta and luxury SUV Santa Fe in the utility vehicles category, may come with a price tag of around Rs 17 - 20 lakh.
