Home-grown automaker Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd (M&M) on Friday announced that its baby SUV KUV100 has crossed the sales milestone of 50,000 units.
Mahindra sold 35,698 units of the mini SUV in the financial year 2016-17, as against 14,210 since its launch in January 2016 till March 31, 2016.
Soon after its launch, the KUV100 was well received initially, thanks to its aggressive SUV styling, spacious interiors and unique flexi 6-seater and 5 seater options.
Rajan Wadhera, president of M&M’s automotive sector, said, “The KUV100 has created an all-new SUV segment in the price range of Rs. 4.5 to 7 lakhs. It combines the appeal of an SUV and the practicality of a compact car, making it a compelling value proposition for buyers. The recent introduction of the new look dual tone KUV100 has also resonated well with our customers and going forward, I am sure that the KUV100 will continue to scale new heights.”
The car buyers get to choose from four personalisation kits of sporty and premium themes.
Mahindra had introduced an all new mFALCON engine family with the KUV100. The 1.2 litre three-pot G80 petrol (mFALCON G80) generates 82bhp of power and 115 Nm of torque while the 1.2 litre three-cylinder D75 diesel (mFALCON D75) engine is turbocharged to churn out 77bhp and 190Nm of torque.
The car was launched in the very competitive sporty hatchback segment, but later was monetised as a commercial vehicle for cabs by Mahindra. The petrol variant of KUV100 is priced from Rs 4.58 lakh to Rs 6.19 lakh while the Diesel KUV100 is priced between Rs 5.54 lakh and Rs 7.10 lakh (ex showroom Delhi).
