Nothing quite like a Mercedes
Question and answersautos Updated: Nov 18, 2011 23:09 IST
I am looking to buy a luxury car with a posh image. I own a Chevrolet Cruze and a Ford Figo. I have narrowed my options down to the Audi A4, BMW 3-series and the Mercedes-Benz C-class. I’m looking for a car that’s hassle-free and has minimum maintenance costs. — Fernando
The new C-class, which has just been given a complete revamp, is our pick for you. There’s nothing quite like a Merc as far as posh image and luxury are concerned. There’s just something very special about being behind the wheel of car that wears the three-point star.
The new C-class has superb interiors and updated engines which have greatly enhanced its appeal. Also, in your area, the C-class with its superb suspension and comfy ride will make light work of the narrow and uneven roads. In terms of maintenance, the Audi has cheaper spare parts but the C-class is more of a known quantity on our roads
I’m interested in getting my Hyundai i20 (Magna) petrol converted to LPG. The car is 15 months old. I would like to know the merits and the demerits associated with converting my car to LPG. I would also like to know what mileage I would get after conversion, what the maintenance costs are, what the cost of conversion is and if there are authorised service stations for conversion in South Kolkata — Kakoli Mukherjee
After conversion, the mileage falls by 2km as compared to the petrol version. New-generation LPG kits come with timing control, which are good and do not face the maintenance issues faced by earlier kits. Cost of conversion in Mumbai is around Rs 18,000-25,000. To find a service station in South Kolkata, we suggest you log on to the Web.
