Tata Motors on Monday launched the Aria, the first four-wheel-drive crossover vehicle from an Indian company. Priced from R12.9 lakh to R15.5 lakh over three variants, it is Tata’s most expensive personal vehicle in India.

Crossover vehicles bridge the gap between sedans and SUVs and are quite popular in developed markets. With a 2.2-litre common rail diesel engine that also powers its Safari SUV, Aria will seek to create its own market.
