Continuing with its top-down strategy for the Indian automobile market, Volkswagen followed the April launch of its high-end Passat with the all-new Jetta on Wednesday.
The new sixth generation Jetta, which was launched in Europe earlier this year, is the first launch in the luxury sedan segment this year. The diesel car available in manual and automatic transmission variants starts at Rs14.1 lakh ex showroom in Delhi. The fully loaded Jetta is priced around Rs18 lakh.
"With this new car we expect to improve our market share even though the market is not expected to grow very fast this year because of high inflation, fuel prices and interest rates," said Nitin Garg, director, passenger cars, Volkswagen India.
The new car is 90 mm longer than the older version and has gone in for a complete redesign in the interiors and a more lean and muscular look on the outside.
